Get up for work because of your Newton!

Imagine waking up in the morning to your favorite track on a CD, at the exact volume you specify. Twenty minutes later, you walk out of the shower, and the television turns on to CNN, and your Stereo switches over to Video mode. Five minutes before you leave for work, the TV and Stereo turn off by themselves. All this happens automatically, while you rush around munching down cereal.  Neat?

The surprises of what you can do with your Newton never cease.  With ShowMate you can control Audio & Video through the Infra-red port of your Newton device. ShowMate changes your MessagePad into a cool entertainment control centre, with sophisticated abilities such as multi-brand equipment support, scripting, and alarms.

Major Brands, Scripting, and Alarms!

ShowMate gives you the ability to control Audio & Video for 4 different brands of equipment. With close to 750 codes for Sony, Panasonic, Philips, and JVC (experimental), you can do everything from turning up the volume, to telling a camcorder to start recording. In fact, some features not normally accessible on your Audio & Video equipment, can be accessed through ShowMate.

Scripting abilities allow you to automate repetitous procedures you do with your remotes.  They allow you to combine commands for multiple brands of consumer equipment, which you can then use with a single button touch. Scripts are built using simple English statements. For example:

Panasonic Amp CD.
Sony CD Track 5.
Sony CD Play.

This simple script turns the Panasonic Amp on to CD and then tells the Sony CD Player to play track 5.

Alarm functionality turns your Newton into a sophisticated manager of audio & video equipment. With ShowMate Alarms you can easily activate and use equipment at pre-determined times, whether you're there or not. You could use ShowMate as an alarm clock in the morning, or to turn on your TV at 6 pm for the News every night - or create a script to synchronize tape recording of a CD.

These features really give your Newton a unique edge over any remote available today.

After writing scripts, you can build a layout of a Custom Remote, assigning scripts and icons to any of the buttons in the display.  This allows you to use the Newton as a replacement for a collection of Remotes.  Pressing a single button could run a script that turns on your TV to Channel 3, tells your VCR to play, and tells your Stereo to switch to Dolby PRO-Logic.

ShowMate 2 is shareware. You can register via our secure order form for $19 US, or phone us at 1-888-SineWare. Please read the included readme file including in the download archive for instructions on using the software. The software will run on Newton 2.x MessagePads only, and requires a minimum of 100 kb RAM. There is no 1.3 version currently.
